IPAN provides volunteering opportunities in three different categories.
- Graduated veterinarians with independent working experience who can join the field work that is anything from spay/neuter surgery camps to panther attacked calves and from mass rabies vaccination days to quiet days when you get to relax the company of with the resident shelter animals. We prefer minimum three weeks of stay for graduated vets.
- Veterinary students and fresh graduated vets without working experience are welcome on student trips where they need always to have a graduated vet to accompany and supervise them. We recommend minimum three weeks of stay. Veterinary students from the Helsinki University, Finland, have already for many years utilized this opportunity to gain valuable practical exposure as well as in-sight to veterinarians life and work in India.
- Non-veterinary volunteers are most welcome to volunteer in IPAN but in this category we don’t provide food and accommodation but can advise you on budget accommodation in Masinagudi, a small town just 15 min drive away from the shelter. If you have special skills in education, photography, fund raising events, horse riding instruction etc. please let us know so that we could think of an individual project for your volunteering. For non-veterinary volunteers there is no minimum time to stay – any number of days that you can spend with the resident animals as well as looking after the healing of the in-patients, is very valuable.
